Highlighting coercive control in divorce proceedings

In recent months, we’ve been working closely with our client Maguire Family Law, a leading family law firm, to highlight the issue of coercive control in divorce. The firm, which has offices across the north west, has seen a steady rise in the number of cases involving an element of coercive control.
To launch the campaign, we commissioned a thought-provoking survey of 2,000 adults, exploring the prevalence of coercive control in the UK, as well as the public’s understanding of its signs and impact.
We then worked with The Independent on a piece which featured the survey, alongside expert commentary from Maguire Family Law’s managing director James Maguire.
Alongside PR, we created a range of content for the website including blogs and a dedicated coercive control landing page, social media assets and we also assisted with the creation of a video series exploring the survey findings.
The campaign has continued to gain momentum, and this week got featured on the BBC, with an online piece, various TV slots and coverage on BBC Radio Manchester.
Our team worked closely with BBC producers to ensure the footage was informative, thought-provoking and sensitively handled. As well as highlighting an important issue, the piece has helped position Maguire Family Law as a leading divorce firm and experts in handling cases involving coercive control.
